Alexis' 10 (Golden) Birthday Party Favors

For my daughter's birthday this year we decided to do something different.  Instead of having a party, she invited just 4 of her friends.  We took them to the movie & then to a nail salon to get their nails done.  It was so nice.  All of the girls got along so well.  They thoroughly enjoyed the movie & especially the nail salon.

I made the purse using the Forever Young Cricut Cartridge  The emblem & fingernail polish came from the same cartridge.  The light pink oval on the emblem was run through the Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots Embossing Folder.  I added some liquid embossing on the red part of the fingernail polish bottle to make it look like glass.  I picked up the little bottles of polish & lip gloss from Wal-Mart.  It all fit great & they loved them.

Kindergarten Teacher Wall Letter

A friend of mine wanted a special "End of School Year' gift for her daughter's Kindergarten teacher.  So she asked me to make one.  The school colors are dark green and red.  This is the final result.

Everything is sized to fit the letter by using my Gypsy and is cut with my Cricut.
I used Liquid Embossing on almost all of the pieces.
The letter is painted with acrylic paint & sealed with Krylon Preserve It.
All of the cardstock pieces are also sealed with Krylon Preserve It.

Christmas Ornaments

I made 10 of these ornaments for Christmas presents this year. I can see myself making many more in different designs. I had so much fun with these, I just want to keep going.

For the base I used wooden blocks that rubber stamps had been unmounted from. Thanks Kelly Scott from the Cricut MB for all of the blocks that yo did not want. Anyone else that wants to get rid of any of them, please let me know!!

I painted the blocks with acrylic paint. I screwed in the eye screws to the top of the block.
The front & back panels were cut from the Stretch Your Imagination Cart. I inked the light blue paper with white pigment ink to soften it a bit.
The snowmen were cut from the Doodle Charms Cart in blackout. I gave the snowmen a little dimension by edging them with light blue and white chalk. I attached the carrot noses. Using a Versamark pad, UTEE, and my heat gun I embossed the snowmen. This gave them a glass-like appearance. I then bent them to make them look like cracked ice. After all of this was set, I used black Liquid Embossing to dot on the eyes and buttons. The Liquid Embossing is shiny and raised giving even more dimension. I attached a ribbon "scarf" around each of the snowmen's necks. Thanks Tracy (Craft Junkie Too) for that idea.
I lightly painted Mod Podge onto the face of the block and the back of the blue panel & attached. When all of them were set, I added another light coat of Mod Podge and to the back of the snowmen and attached.

The 2009 is cut from the Alphalicious Cart. I used CDS to weld the numbers together. I attached the 2009 to the panel. Then used the same process as above to attach the panels to the blocks.

I then just tied a ribbon bow the the top of the block around the eye screw. I added a little drop of Glossy dimensions under the knot of the bow to make sure it stayed in place. (I am not the best decorative bow tying person .- LOL)

Here is a closer up view of the snowmen to show the crackled ice look. Not sure if it is showing up to good though.

And this is a close up of the back side. After the last layer of Mod Podge dried, I added some dots on the 2009 with a blue glitter pen. Again not sure if this is showing up to good in the pic.

Another Pocket Card/Envie

This one is for some friends' daughter. It's hard to believe we have known Jordan since she was in Kindergarten. Now she is 13.

I used George & Basic Shapes for the diamonds and Mini Monograms (I think) for the J.

Twinchies Swap June 2009

I made these twinchies for a swap on the Cricut MB that is hosted by KellyScott. Twinchies are handmade embellishments that are 2"x2". i enjoyed making the inchies (1"x1"), but the twinchies give a little more options to be able to work with them & decorate. We also decided that they did not just have to be square. The base could be any shape as long as it was 2"x2".

The first one I did was the dog.

My base was an octagon from the George & Basic Shapes Cart. I inked around the edges with a brown Colorbox ink pad.

I cut the dog from the Doodlecharms Cart. I cut 3 layers of the blackout shape, 2 in brown & 1 in black.

The black black out shape is the base for the top layer (tan) with a black nose (I used black Liquid Embossing over the black cardstock) & brown ears & eye spot.

I also inked around the ears on the top dog with a brown Le-Plume II marker.

I used pink chalks to blush the cheeks.

I layered all of the dog pieced with a pop-dot between them & a pop-dot between them & the base.

So this one is very dimensional.

The next one is the seahorse.

My base for this one is just a square with rounded corners cut from the Mini Monograms cart. I embossed this layer in my Cuttle Bug with the Swiss Dots Folder.

The next layer is the square tag also cut from the Mini Monograms Cart. I embossed this layer in the Cuttlebug with the Spots & Dots Folder.

I thought these 2 together made it look like bubbles & was cute with the seahorse.

I cut the seahorse out of the Doodlecharms Cart. Layered them & attached to the base layers.

I inked around the seahorse & the markings with a purple LePlume II marker. I went over the marking & in the center of the tag holes with iridescent glitter glue.

I liked this one b/c it is so bright & cheery. I think it would be great for a b-day card or a vacation card or layout.

Inchies Swap May 2009

I joined my first "Inchies" swap hosted by KellyScott on the Cricut MB. For those of you that don't know what "Inchies" are: They are 1" x 1" (usually square - but not always) pieces of material (cardstock or whatever you see fit). They are decorated in whatever way you want, as long as it fits on that 1" piece of material.
The call was to make 50 inchies and we could pick out own theme. Even if someone else had that same theme the likeliness of them coming out the same is very slim.
When I signed up, I thought this would be fun. I cut out my first 50 squares and thought, "Wow, a 1 in. square is really small! There is no way that I can cut anything to put on here." So, I went through my stamps to see if I had anything small enough. I had some cupcake stamps & since they are so popular right now I would do Cupcakes. Well, I was then hooked. I started cutting out my next 50 squares before I even contacted Kelly to let her know that I wanted another spot. I decided to do Ice Cream. When I finished those, I went through my stamps again & found more that I wanted to do. So then, I took 2 more spots Celebrate & Love You.
Well there are some that are cutting out things to fit on these tiny squares & they look awesome. I went with stamps and coloring them in. I stamped all of them with Black Staz-On ink and colored them in with LePlume II Markers. I also inked around the edges of all of them with the LePlume II markers.
Cupcake:
The Stamp is from Studio G $1 Clear Stamps Sweets Set. I used a Pink Metallic Gel Writer (the 100 pack from Sam's) to outline the top of the cupcake & a Purple Metallic Gel Writer for the lines in the cupcake wrapper. I used Liquid Embossing (All Night Media) for the heart to give some shine & a little dimension.

Ice Cream:
The stamp is from Studio G $1 Clear Stamps Sweets Set. I used a Green Metallic Gel Writer to outline the top of the ice cream. I used a Brown Metallic Gel Writer to outline & for the cross marks on the cone (kind of makes it look like a sugar cone).

Celebrate:
The stamps (yes, this one is actually 3 stamps on this 1" square) are from Stampendous! Perfectly Clear Stamps Everything Happy Set. I used a darker & Lighter Yellow Metallic Gel Writer and a Red Gel Writer for the flames. I also used the Liquid Embossing on the flames as well. I added a little pen stitching around the edges with a LePlume II Marker just to give them a little extra something.

Love You:
This stamp is from Studio G $1 Clear Stamps Sweets Set. I used a Red Metallic Gel Writer for a shiny spot on one of the cherries, but it doesn't show well. I used the Liquid Embossing on the cherries to make them pop.

A Few More Ornaments

Ok, so here are a few more ornaments. A friend that I had grown up with had seen my Godchild's ornament. He wanted me to make some for his daughter. They give her six new ornaments every year & he wanted me to make four of them for her.

Angel: I made this one using CDS, George & Basic Shapes, and Paper Doll Dress Up. Click HERE for Angel .cut file. When you cut it, you will not use the head on the 2nd body. This angel is very simple, but I really don't design much with CDS. I mostly use it to size things correctly & weld letters to make words, so this was an accomplishment. I think she came out cute. I also used Peachy Keen Face Stamps (Blushing Brides). I also used the Cuttlebug for her dress, wings, & hair.

Gingerbread Man: He came from the Stretch Your Imagination cart. I used Markers to color in the colored parts of the "icing", then I used Liquid Embossing to give it a little dimension.

Christmas Stocking: I can't remember which cart this one came from. I used the MS Branch punch for the branches at the top.

Rocking Horse Wreath: I think this one is my favorite. (I have to check on this one too about the cart.) I appologize - I have been working on so much lately that I don't remember all of supplies used. I used the MS Branch punch to make the wreath. I rubbed a dark green ink pad across the horse & the wreath. I like the way it turned out. It kind of made it look antique-ish.

This card is very simple, but I really wanted to get it done. It is for such a great cause - to let others know that they are appreciated. Alzheimer's Caregivers, I'm sure don't always feel that they are. I have not been touched by this disease in anyway. Cammie's story just touched me. And the fact that so many have donated so much for Cammie's cause, that the least I could do was make a card to brighten someone's day.

I will be sending my card to the Altman House. I'm sure they will appreciate everything that Cammie has done to bring this attention to the ones that are sometimes not so appreciated.

Happy Birthday Mom

Well, I have not been around for a while. We had Gustave & Ike to worry about. I'm still not totally back to my cardmaking & blogging, but I'm working on it.

I did get my mom's b-day card done & given to her on time & before we had to evacuate. But I am just getting to post it.

Before Katrina my mom had a beautiful butterfly garden. So I knew she would love this card.

Birthday Card

This is the card that I made for my mom to give. It is for my cousin's 40th Birthday. I wanted to do something a little more sophisticated for this one. I hope I accomplished that. I used SYI for everything on this & welded them all together in DS. Then I cut the bows & layered them on the presents. I also cut an extra (center) flourish & layered that too. I used glitter glue on the bows & Liquid Embossing on the small flourishes.

Thank You (Shoe)

I made this card for a very good friend. She gave my daughter a gift certificate to get some school shoes. I entered this card in a challenge on DailyScrapper's blog http://abusyplace.blogspot.com/. The challange was to use any Cricut cut, colors were to be black & white, & you had to use ribbon in some way. you might want to check it out. She has 2 more challenges this weekend.

Details:

I used CDS, PDDU, OA, & SYI. In CDS, I skooched one shoe off of the mat so that it would only cut one. The ribbon is from Michael's. I used a white Gelly Roll pen for the scored marks on the shoe. I also used the CAD to punch the holes to lace the ribbon. I also used Liquid Embossing on the "Thank You", it just doesn't show well in the pic.
